Manchester Airport Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is both the original and largest terminal at Manchester Airport. With an annual capacity of 11 million passengers it is used for a combination of charter and scheduled operator’s flights to international destinations. Recent redevelopments to the terminal at a cost in the region of £50 million have brought it up to date and resulted in a thoroughly pleasant environment for biding the time before jetting off.

Terminal 1 is joined to Terminal 2 by the Skylink system- an elevated, enclosed, automatic walk-way which takes the effort out of travelling between the two terminals.

Before Check In

Between the front doors of the terminal and the security check point there aren’t any retail outlets in Terminal 1 nor any dining establishments. There is however the delightful Runway Brasserie located in the Radisson Hotel, accessible by the Skylink between terminals 1 and 2.

Checking In

Prior to setting off to the airport it is imperative to check the specific details, requests and requirements relating to your flight as check-in procedures and baggage allowances tend to differ from airline to airline. The majority do however offer online check-in which is a great way to reduce the time spent waiting around when you arrive at the airport. Failing that, there are a number of green self-service check-in machines to be found in the airport. These machines allow you to confirm your booking and print your boarding card with speed and ease.

Having checked in and passed through security, Terminal 1 is thriving with shops, bars and restaurants. The following outlets can all be found between security and the departure gates of the terminal:
